Reader's Theater

This week we worked on four plays. Each group read their play, practiced their parts, and then performed in front of the class. We had some great props and some creative ideas. This was a fun week!!

Veteran's Day!

We had an amazing Veteran's Day concert. Here are some of our little Patriots getting ready to than our Veteran's through song. Thank you Veteran's!!

Dictionary Day

Today, the third graders received their dictionaries as a gift from the Rotary Club of Hamilton. The Rotary also talked to the students about character and how to work hard towards their future goals. The third graders are very excited about their dictionary gift. Back in our classrooms we used our dictionaries to practice skills with a dictionary dice game. Thank you Hamilton Rotary!!

Human or physical features?

With the help of Miss Evans we have been investigating features on the earth and determining if they are physical or human features.  Students loved sorting pictures of features into groups.

Flower dissection

This week in science we dissected and observed the different parts of flowers.  A HUGE thank you to The Flower Corner for donating flowers for our lesson!

Mystery Reader #2

We had a second mystery reader come in and read to Mrs. Baker's homeroom class. Our assistant principal, Mrs. Patton-Radel, visited and read some of her favorite Shel Silverstein poems. Thanks Mrs. P-R!

This week we've started learning about figurative language. So far, we've covered similes and metaphors. These smart third graders are coming up with some impressive examples of metaphors and similes.

Khan academy

The third graders are enjoying working on khan academy in computer lab.  Khan academy is a self paced google app that allows student to view videos, answer math problems, earn energy points, and badges  based on performance.
